Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi manufacturing company Alat, owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), aspires to be a global exporter of electronic chips and semiconductors, reducing the Kingdom’s imports of these products, Chief Strategy Officer Ahmad Aalem announced.
Alat aims to manufacture some special products in its business units before 2030, Aalem stated in an interview with Al Arabiya.
He added that Alat’s first manufacturing plant will be fully powered by clean energy while other plants are expected to depend on renewable energy by 50% in 2030.
Alat further plans to directly contribute SAR 35 billion to the Kingdom's non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, Aalem noted.
Earlier this month, Alat launched two business units to boost sustainable manufacturing capabilities in Saudi Arabia.
The electrification unit will focus on connecting renewable energy sources to the grid, while the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure unit will focus on the technology necessary for AI capabilities.
