
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb revealed that the Kingdom witnessed a significant increase of 90% in issuing tourism licenses.
During his speech at the Great Futures expo, the minister stated that the tourism sector contributes around 5% to the gross domestic product (GDP).
He affirmed that Saudi Arabia became a global hub for innovation with investments amounting to SAR 800 billion.
Al Khateeb further highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to solidify its pioneering role in the sports sector by hosting mega events such as Formula 1 and WWE and enhancing its sports infrastructure.
The Great Futures expo takes place in Riyadh on 14 and 15 May with the participation of around 750 representatives. It primarily focuses on innovation in research collaboration, disruptive technologies, emerging clean tech, finance, and sustainable construction.
A delegation of 300 British business executives participates in this two-day event to showcase the best UK excellence and innovation.
Headed by Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden, the delegation also includes senior business leaders from various sectors, notably tourism, clean tech, trade, and insurance.
